Obituary:
Buxton/Dayton.
Donald E. Nason of Turkey Lane and formerly of Dayton, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. He was born in Saco, Maine, the second son of Edna (Tufts) and Forrest Nason, Sr. He attended Saco schools, graduating from Thornton Academy in 1950, the school he continued to boast about up until the time of his death.
Don was employed at Cole Farm dairy as a dairy farmer for 31 years and later became a corrections officer with the York County Sheriff’s Office where he served as a sergeant for 11 years. As much as he enjoyed working with cows, he enjoyed working with people much more. After retiring from his corrections job, Don began cultivating his love of gardening by working as a master gardener.
Until their move to Buxton in late 2016, Don and his wife, Louise, were active members of the United Baptist Church in Saco. Because of his love of God and wanting to share that love with others, Don became a member of the Gideons, International. Through that organization he traveled around the state, preaching from numerous pulpits and giving out New Testaments to school children, nurses, and hotels and anyone who showed an interest.
He also joined the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, spending countless hours learning about roses and then sharing that knowledge with others.
Donald is survived by his wife of 65 years Louise Francis (Poulin) Nason, and four of his five children, one of whom, Brian died in 1975. Judith (Nason) Starnes of Saco, Pamela Daniels and husband Dennis of Buxton, Donald Nason Jr. and wife, Sharon of Biddeford, Scott Nason and wife, Kristin of Saco. Additionally, he is survived by four brothers, all of Saco: Carl Graffam, Charles Graffam, John Graffam and William Graffam, as well as a sister, Charlene LeBlanc. Don was proud grandfather to 8 grandchildren: Billy, Amy, Christine, Michelle, Brian, Chad, Alexis and Jacob and 11 great-grandchildren.

I am so sorry for your great loss. May the God who "binds up the broken hearted" and "comforts all who mourn" sustain your family during this challenging time. (Isaiah 61:1, 2) With heartfelt sympathy.

It was my pleasure to have known Don both as a co-worker with the sheriff's office and before that as a member of the Dairy industry. I always enjoyed talking cows with him. Sorry to have learned too late of his passing to attend services. Condolences to the family.
