Obituary:
Marilyn Wilbur Haskell, 92 of Saco, ME and Greensburg, PA passed away October 20, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Troy, NY on April 29, 1924, the daughter of late Arthur and Isabelle Ransom Wilbur.
Lynn was a graduate of Russell Sage College in Troy, NY in nursing while working at Albany Medical Center. She later went work in the pediatric department at Hartford Hospital, where she met her husband Richard Haskell. Lynn and Dick settled in Pittsburgh, PA in the 1950’s, when she had the pleasure of working with Dr. Jonas Salk who invented the polio vaccine and got to see firsthand his success. She later worked over 20 years at Latrobe Area Hospital for Home Health Care.
Lynn was a member of the Charter Oak United Methodist Church for many years serving as a Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed refinishing furniture, painting, summer vacations in Maine and gardening which she won many awards for her flower arrangements.
In the 1990’s, Lynn and Dick retired to their vacation home in Old Orchard Beach, ME where she spent many years enjoying her family and cheering on her grandchildren at all their sporting and theatrical events.
She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Richard Emery Haskell on October 13, 2015.
Lynn is survived by her daughters Ann Hilty and husband David, of Franklin Park, PA, Susan McCreary and husband David of Ross Township, PA and Lucy Begin and husband Robert of Saco; a brother Earle Wilbur of Atlanta, GA; a sister Dorothy Gannon of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Steve Hilty, Katie Thompson, Mallory Muetzel, Lindsay Peters, Nate McCreary, J.J.(Joe) Begin and Bobby Begin, great grandchildren Edward John Thompson and Matteo Zion Muetzel.
