Obituary:
MISHAWAKA, Ind. - Winifred "Winnie" Bernice Sedlar, 85, residing in Mishawaka, passed away peacefully at 3:24 pm Monday, July 11, 2016, in her home.

She was born on Dec. 12, 1930, in Cambridge, Mass., to the late Charles F. and Rebecca "Rose" (Blundon) Damery.

On Nov. 9, 1953, in Chelsea, Mass., Winnie married Mervin W. Sedlar, who preceded her in death just a short while ago on June 12, 2016.

Winnie is survived by six daughters, Sharon Sedlar of Vero Beach, Fla., Faith Wescott of Virginia Beach, Va., Major Deborah Sedlar of Pittsburgh, Pa., Heidi Watson of Norfolk, Va., Grace (Mika) Roinila of Mishawaka and Elizabeth Douthett of Pittsburgh, Pa.; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Krista) Anderson, Melinda (Kevin) Metzger, Ari, Anna and Laura Roinila and Sinikka (Alan) Rohrer; and four great-grandchildren, Katrina and Ryder Anderson, Nevaeh Holcomb and Marcus Quintero; as well as her sister, Gladys Boyle of Bernardston, Mass. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frederick Damery.

Winnie's greatest joy was being a mom and a minister in the Salvation Army for 28 years. As a soldier, she continued to serve the Army in Old Orchard Beach which brought her continued joy. She was a walking example to her family and friends of Jesus in every way.

Her life's purpose seems to come together in this note found in Winnie's Bible: "I know where true love and peace abound, walking in the Lord's appointed way. Journeying with Jesus as I walk along the way, living in His favor brings contentment day to day."

She would want you to experience the contentment of really knowing Jesus throughout your life too. She was a remarkable woman who left Christ's imprint on each life she touched.
