Friends and relatives may call at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 13 Portland Rd, Buxton, (Bar Mills), on Saturday June 11, 2016 from 5 to 7 PM . A Funeral service will be held Sunday June 12, 2016 at 2:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Brooklawn Memorial Park at 10:00AM Monday Morning June 13, 2016.
Obituary:
Gorham – Clifford Augustus Wilcox, Jr. 69, passed away on June 2, 2016 with his wife Dolly by his side. He was born in Portland on November 9, 1946, the son of Clifford Augustus and Beulah Gregg Wilcox, Sr.
Clifford attended Portland schools and left after his father died to help support his mother and younger siblings. He was self-employed most of his adult life. He worked on the Portland waterfront both on boats and filleting fish, he owned and operated his own sanitation business where he prided himself as a “garbologist”. He most recently owned and operated his own garage and was a used car wholesaler. He loved to race stock cars at Beech Ridge in his younger years, as well as riding motorcycles, snowmobiles, jet skis and horses. He was the “ultimate sports” enthusiast before it became popular in the X games. He loved roller-skating and dancing and could dance on his roller-skates. Clifford was also an auctioneer and a collector of unique objects. Most of all Clifford loved spending time with his family and friends.
Clifford was a member of the Portland Elks and the York County Riders.
Clifford was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Richard Wilcox and Gary Gregg and his mother-in-law Gladys Moses.
He is survived by his wife of 52+ years Dolly Moses Wilcox; his son Clifford A. Wilcox III; his sister Venna Wilcox; his sisters-in-law Diana Lambert and her husband Stephen, Judy Stevens and her husband Carl, and Eleanor Roberts and her husband John; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many cousins.
