Obituary:
Buxton, J. Scott Powell, 57, of Long Plains Rd, passed away suddenly May 19,2016 while working on the ship S.S. Alpena in Sturgeon Bay, WI.
He was born in Wilmington Delaware.
Scott’s early years were spent with his mother Patricia Powell in Mooretown, NJ and later went to live with his father in Pennsylvania.
He was a graduate of Avon Grove High School in Kimblesville, Pennsylvania.
Scott later graduated from the Maine Maritime Academy in 1982 with a degree in Nautical Science and continued his education at Southern Maine Community College, where he participated in an accelerated Marine engineering program.
His career as a Merchant Seaman took him all over the world but the place he most wanted to be was here in Maine with his family.
Scott’s greatest joy was being with his family, he also enjoyed hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, mowing his lawn and any other activity that took him outside.
J. Scott Powell is survived by his wife Tammy L. Powell, a daughter Gabrielle E. Powell and a son Wyatt R. Powell, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. His father and step mother reside in Florida.

Sharon & I wish to express our sympathy to Tammy, Gabrielle and Wyatt on their loss of Scott. He was a good kind all American type person. His passing is way too early.
