At Ruth’s request, there will be no public funeral. A private graveside service will be held in the spring, at a date later to be determined.
Obituary:
HOLLIS – Ruth T. Harmon, 92, passed away in her home, with her family by her bedside, on April 6th, 2016. She was born on November 28, 1923 to Eletha Harmon and Chester Meserve in Hollis.
She graduated from Hollis High School in 1941 and married James Hebert in 1942. She worked at Limerick Yard Mills, Kennebunk Shoe Company, Files Nursing Home, and Sylvania in Standish, where she retired in 1985. She enjoyed dancing at the Buxton Grange, motorcycle rides, horse shows, hunting, fishing, and camping in Big Eddie, ME and in Erroll, New Hampshire. She was most proud of shooting a 765 pound moose at the age of 74.
She is preceded in death by six siblings: Clarence “Bud” Meserve, Howard “Huggy” Meserve, Evelyn “Pink” Berry, Lawrence Meserve, Melba Ackley and Judy Emmons.
She is dearly remembered by four siblings: Alton “Whitey” Meserve of Hollis, June Emmons of Lyman, Charlene Patch of Hollis, and Helen Goodrow of Saco, as well as her loving companion of 25 years, Richard Ham and her two children, Carolyn Quimby of Hollis and James Hebert of Lyman. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Thomas Quimby of Bowdoinham, ME; Mark Hebert of Spring, TX; Kevin Hebert of Hollis; Scott Quimby of Underhill, VT; and Stephanie Flaherty of Menlo Park, CA; as well as six great-grandchildren; Elliot Hebert, Leanna Hebert, Kayla Hebert, Aaron Hebert, Morgan Quimby, and Aidan Quimby.
Arrangements are being made by Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home and Cremation, 13 Portland Road, (Bar Mills) Buxton.
