Visiting hours will be held from 12 to 1 PM, Thursday, January 7th, at the Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral and Cremation, 365 Main Street, Saco with a funeral service to follow at 1PM. Reverend Beverly Lowell of United Baptist Church will officiate. Reception to follow at the United Baptist Church Vestry.

Obituary:
Gladys Brown Johnson, 94, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016, surrounded by her family who loved her very much.
She was born on August 22, 1921 in Saco, Maine, on Temple Street, to William G. and Beulah (Kenison) Brown.
She attended Saco Schools and Thornton Academy.
Gladys met her husband Walter (Bud), when he followed her home from a dance. Walter was in the Army and stationed at the old shoe shop on Park Street. A month later, they were married at the Congregational Parish house on May 23, 1942 and have been together for almost 74 years.
Gladys was a member of the United Baptist Church for several years where she was a Deaconess and on several committees. Gladys was member of the Eastern Star Annette Chapter in Saco.
Gladys and Bud spent many years on Kennebunk Pond at their camp before moving to Florida. They had many good times enjoying their children and grandchildren at the Pond.
She and her husband Walter, lived in Punta Gorda, Florida for 14 years. They moved back to Saco to be closer to their family.
Gladys worked many years at the Pepperell Mills in Biddeford, retiring many years ago.
Gladys was predeceased by both of her parents, and son William Johnson, in 1985, also two granddaughters, infant, Doria Johnson, Kimberly D. Kline and grandson Keith Kline. She is survived by her husband, Walter, daughters Joan J. Hurrell, and husband Robert, whom she lived with and Debra Sena, and husband Frank, who all reside in Saco. Also, a daughter-in-law, Doria Johnson of Colchester, CT. She is the proud grandmother of Teddy Milne, Jr., of Wisconsin, Catherine Nichols and Timothy Milne of Saco, Todd Milne, of Portland, Kari Coyne of Kennebunk, Brian Hurrell of Colorado, Alison Kline, Saco, Amy Moscati of New York and Benjamin Johnson, of Florida. Gladys is the great-grandmother of 15 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Gladys enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's visits so much.
Gladys is also survived by her sister, Beverly Libby of Gorham, Maine and several nieces and nephews.

Joan, I'm so sorry for your loss. You will be in my prayers. I'm sure she was well loved and cared for in your home. You are such a good person. My mom was born in 1921 also. She died four years ago. I know you will miss her but she is always near-by. God Bless you and your family.

Joan, Bud, & family, It was such a pleasure to have known Gladys. She will certainly be missed, especially her sunny smile and sweet demeanor. How fortunate she was to have lived such a wonderful and long life to the age of 94. Bless her heart. May the love of family & friends help sustain you during this difficult time.
