Obituary:
It comes with great sadness that the family of Mary Jean Zupkosky (McCarthy) announces her peaceful passing on Saturday, August 7, 2021, from Covid-19 at the age of 60 in Biddeford, Maine at Southern Maine Medical Center.
Mary Jean will be lovingly remembered by her son David Zupkosky, his wife Kathryn and two granddaughters, Kensington (5) and Kaislyn (1) Zupkosky of Tampa, FL; her daughter, Caitlyn Zupkosky of Nashua NH; her brother Gary McCarthy and his wife Karen of Windham, NH; sisters, Debbie McCarthy of Old Orchard Beach, ME and Linda McCarthy of TN; her two beloved cats, Kitty Boy and Lil Rascal, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, neices, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Born on August 11, 1960 in Cambridge, MA to Robert and Betty (Cleversey) McCarthy and lived in Lexington, MA and in FL. MaryJean was raised in Lowell, MA and was one of six children. Mary Jean is predeceased in death by her loving parents, her beloved sister Susan McCarthy, Aunts Virginia McCarthy and Jean Reardon, her dear friend Sharon Knight and her cats Spunky, Midnight, Snowballs, Pepper, Oreo, Beauty and Butterscotch.
Looking for a better life outside the city for her family, Mary Jean settled in Milford, NH, where she went on to raise her two children. She was a devoted full time Mom, as well as, a bank teller at Lowell 5 Bank, and most recently, a bus driver within the local New Hampshire school district. Mary Jean provided exceptional upbringings for her kids, teaching them what life was all about, the great importance of family, vacations and fun. She watched both David and Caitlyn graduate high school, as well as David's college graduation in 2006. She attended David’s wedding in Tampa, FL in 2013. Mary Jean entered her favorite role in 2016 becoming “Nana" and again in 2020. Those granddaughters were her world as she loved them so much and so missed being with them. Her most cherished pastime was her devotion to her cats. Mary Jean loved and cared for up to 6 cats in her home at one time and fed up to 28 cats outside her home. Cats were the key to her heart. She loved animals of all kind especially the ones in need of help.
MaryJean ventured to West Palm Beach, FL to live in the sunshine state however it was short lived as she missed her family. She settled back in Milford, NH for a number of years until she retired from the bus company and moved Dallas, GA. She spent her remaining 3 years in Old Orchard Beach, ME with her sister Debbie. MaryJean loved her flower garden, reading mysteries, finding seaglass, eating fried claims, fried shrimp and Chinese food. She also loved Publix Carrot cake too so her daughter would make her carrot cake for her birthday. MaryJean loved to cruise to the Carribean and loved the blue/green waters. She enjoyed living near the ocean and loved Florida.

We love and will miss you forever Mom, Nana, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Godmother and Friend. Rest in Peace.

Sending my deepest condolences. Mary Jean was a wonderful, loving, caring friend. I met her thru her job as she drove the bus for my grandson, Riley and we immediately hit it off. We enjoyed going to Kimball's in Westford and the Weathervane for seafood. We use to take walks with Freeway (my dog) between her bus runs. I will miss our long talks on the phone. Rest in peace Mary Jean, I will think of you often. Thinking of you all. 💔
