A funeral service will be held at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home 365 Main St, Saco Wednesday December 9, 2020 at 1:00PM, visiting hours will follow til 3 PM.
Burial will be at a later date.
Obituary:
Saco, Joan T. Carter, 79, of Wildwood Drive passed away Friday December 4, 2020 at her residence after a long illness.
She was born in Queens, NY June 19, 1941 the daughter of Anita Rankin.
She grew up in Queens and Far Rockway, New York graduating from Stella Maris High School.
After high school, she worked for Grace Lines in Manhatten, then the Home Insurance Company where she was a secretary and worked the switch board. For a summer she worked for New York Bell Telephone. Joan was an US Army wife, moving and traveling with her husband’s Thomas’s assignments, living once in Japan and her most recent employment in George with the Atlanta Area School for the deaf.
Joan and her family moved to Maine in 2000, settling in Saco in 2012.
She enjoyed quilting.
Joan is survived by her husband of 57 years, Thomas Carter of Saco, 2 sons Thomas Carter Jr of Statesville, NC and James Matthew Carter of Buffalo, NY, and a daughter Eileen Kudrick of Buffalo and 3 grandchildren Timothy, Brittney and Jonathan.
