The family wishes to thank the staff at the Gosnell Hospice House for their compassionate care. Ann’s ashes will be interred in the Memory Garden at the First Congregational Church of Christ in Simsbury, Connecticut where a private service will be conducted.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home and Cremation are entrusted with her arrangements.
Obituary:
Ann Shultz Brainard, 83, of Old Orchard Beach passed away May 29, 2019 with her daughters by her side. Born in Ames, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Helen (Kennedy) and Earl N. Shultz. Her family moved to Peterborough, New Hampshire when Ann was two years old and she often spoke of her idyllic childhood.
As a young married woman, Ann lived all over the United States including San Antonio, Tampa, Los Angeles and Houston. She settled in Simsbury, Connecticut and lived there most of her adult life. Ann loved the beach and had lived in Old Orchard Beach for the past twelve years.
Ann truly enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She had an ear for conversation and her door was always open. All who entered her home became a friend for life. In quiet moments, Ann could be found tending to her flowers or sitting on her patio looking for the cardinal pair that called her back yard their home. Ann was an avid reader and she passed her love of reading to her children.
Ann was predeceased by her husband, Robert Brainard. Her memory will be preserved and her well-lived life remembered by her daughters, Kimberly and Pamela, her sons-in-law Martin and Jeff, grandchildren Lauren, Marshall, Adam and Aaron, and her great grand daughters Lucy, Margo and Elyn.
