Obituary:
Peteris Savickis 66 passed away at his home in Old Orchard Beach. He was born on March 31, 1952 in Neustadt, Germany, the son of Donats and Ursula Schiko Savickis. He was educated in Germany. He worked as a merchant marine for many years, his home harbor was Neustadt, Germany. On one trip, he decided to stay in the USA and started his new life in New York City, not speaking a word of English. He moved to Maine and worked as a butcher in Portland for many years. He retired a couple of years ago. He enjoyed swimming in the ocean, hunting, and fishing.
He is survived by his brother Bernd Savickis with his wife and daughter, and sisters Monika Petersson with her husband and children, and Sylvia Ballmann with her husband and children.
