My Prayer for Mom, May 28th 2018
Prayer for Mom
Lord, please have mercy-
Thank you for making Betty our mom, a sister, a grandmother…and trusting her hands to care for us when we had no clue what we were doing.
This parenting journey has sometimes been hard, funny, scary, inspiring, …and there were a lot of parts that we messed up that I wish I could do over.
Thank you for all the sweet moments—there were soooo many of those. You will be sorely missed. I am especially going to miss you in the ordinariness of the everyday. Being near you —on the good days and the bad—has been the greatest joy and privilege of my life. Mom you taught me most things that I believe and carry to this day. You helped me fall in love with music, with gardening, with enjoying the small things. Mom you are extremely creative and artistic. Mom you are and always have been a beautiful woman. You loved your family more than anything.
Oh Lord, release our grip and give us the courage to let Betty go. (You’re gonna have to pry my fingers back a little.)
Remind me that Betty is yours…that she has always been yours.
Remind me that she will be with You and other loved ones who have already gone on.
Remind me that your love for Betty is even bigger than mine.
Remind me that letting Mom go is a much better alternative to sickness and discomfort
Lastly, please give us the strength to celebrate this milestone without a lot of crying and with ever so many fond and sustaining memories.
I want you to know Mom that I’m more proud of you than sad. I want You to know that I’m more excited about what’s next than afraid. I want You to know that we love You dearly. And I want You to know that I believe in YOU.
Lord, in your mercy, hear my prayer.
Betty Jean….one of the most interesting and amazing women I have ever known….and you are our Mom, a sister, a grandmother……we will always love you.

"Prayer for Mom - Moms breathing at this time is laborious. It would break our hearts except for what occurred this afternoon. God is His infinite mercy helped Mom to be fully coherent around noon today and Mom was attentive to Pastor Jan and her comforting words from scripture. Mom was also attentive to music we have done together. Where the Roses Never Fade and Great Speckled Bird. My mothers voice has filled my life with Grace. After Connie and I had left briefly, my dear sister Roxie and Mom were alone. At about 3 as Roxanne was dozing a bit, she distinctly felt a lovely kiss on her cheek. Moms physical condition deteriorated after that. The physical Betty remained but the Spiritual took flight, hopefully walking gracefully and upright and meaningfully to a much better destination. As we realize Our Beloved Mom, Sister and Grandmother is gone, there are others saying "Here comes Betty. Thank you my Dearest Betty for all the sweet moments. You will be sorely missed. I am especially going to miss you in the ordinariness of the everyday. Being near you has been a joy and a privilege. My Mom always was and is a Beautiful Woman who loved her family more than anything. We want to be more proud (and we are) than sad and we are excited about what's next than afraid. Betty Jean - one of the most interesting and amazing woman I have ever known....our Mom, a sister, a grandmother.....who will always be loved.

From Gail Quinney - "I was so very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I only met her a couple of times but found her to be wonderful and gracious. She was part of those fabulous women who came from the greatest generation. I like to say they raised us right. They did it with Love, Devotion, Discipline, more love and a spirit of telling their daughters "Yes you can!" They taught us the Golden Rule was for everyone not just family. Not a day goes by that I don't think of my Mom. She passed in 2010. These ladies led by example. Keep your memories close! I know your Mom was a fantastic lady because she raised wonderful daughters. We learn what we live! God smiled on us when he picked out our Moms. Time will ease todas pain, and your memories bring back smiles and laughter. God Gless you and your family. Thinking of you.
