Obituary:
Saco - Heidi B. Katz, 42, of Hall Avenue passed away unexpectedly Tuesday March 6, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Melrose, Mass. Sepember 16, 1975 the daughter of James and Sandra Reinherz Katz.
Heidi attended high school at Chapel Hill Chauncy Hall School in Waltham, MA and later attended Wheelock College and USM, Portland.
Heidi started her professional career in information technology in the Boston area. When her son Jacob was 5, she relocated to the home in Saco. She held a variety of positions where she taught Microsoft Office applications and provided in-house tech support for mid-range companies. Matthew Dormanen, her second son, was born in January of 2007. She decided to take her career in a new direction 3 years ago when she enrolled in the USM Tourism and Hospitality degree program with a minor in marketing. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in May of 2017 with high honors.
Heidi was very gifted at making jewelry which she sold Saturdays at the Saco River Market. She also made collages and shadow boxes to celebrate and record events in her family. She loved dogs and had raised and adopted several over the years. As soon as adoption license plates were available she had one on her car. She imbued a love of animals, dogs in particular, to her two sons.
She is survived by her parents of Saco, her two sons Jacob Sidney Collette of Portland and Matthew Elliott Dormanen of Saco, a brother Michael Dylan Katz and his spouse Stephanie of N. Andover, MA and two nieces Sydney and Eden.
