Visiting hours will be on Thursday, February 22 from 4-8pm at the Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St in Saco. Biddeford Saco Elks Lodge #1597 will perform a memorial service during the visiting hours. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Ed’s family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Wardwell Home, 43 Middle St, Saco Maine 04072 or the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, c/o Hospice of Southern Maine,180 US Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074

Obituary:
SACO – Edwin E Munford Jr, age 82 of Saco died peacefully on February 17, 2017 at the Gosnell House after a brief illness.
He was born in Biddeford, Maine on July 25, 1935, a son of Edwin SR and Vera (Rogers) Munford.
As a boy he attended schools in Saco and graduated from Thornton Academy, class of 1954. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed in Rhode Island.
Ed worked his entire life as a US Postal Carrier in Biddeford. He always enjoyed the interaction of the residents along his route.
In his earlier years, Ed was an avid ice fisherman and snowmobile enthusiast, so much so that he was one of the founding members of the Saco Pathfinders. In his later years, his passion turned to fishing, hunting and darts.
He was active throughout his life in fraternal organizations where he was Past Exalted Ruler of the Biddeford Saco Elks #1597 and the Past President of the Saco Eagles. He was also a member of the Saco Yacht Club.
He was predeceased by his parents as well as sisters Faye Bunker and Darlene Munford. He is survived by his daughter - Linda and her husband Robert Carey of Holliston, MA; his son – Douglas Munford and his wife Deborah of Port Charlotte, FL; his son - Troy Munford of Bethel, Maine; his sister – Noreen Hanson and her husband Donald of Saco; his brother – William (Ben) and Betty Munford of Summerville, SC. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, Sarah Levasseur, Joseph Levasseur and his wife Morgan, Jillian Munford and Abigail Munford as well as 2 great grandchildren, River and Lena Levasseur.
