Lurena Smith Kelley Grondin, 87, passed away on May 2, 2012. She was born on December 11, 1924 in Biddeford, ME the daughter of Clifton and Avesha Draper Kelley. She was educated in Biddeford schools and graduated from Biddeford High School in 1942 and attended Westbrook Junior College in Portland. She married Joseph A. Grondin on July 27,1946. They settled in Saco, ME and raised four wonderful daughters. She was a stay-at-home mom who dearly loved her family and especially enjoyed the years they all spent in the White Mountains of NH and Stowe, VT. Lurena and Joe recently celebrated 65 years of marriage and in retirement had 20 years of travel in this country with winters in Arizona and Florida. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed needlepoint, rug braiding and geneaolgy. She was a cat lover and had many cats throughout the years, but there was one special kitty, a siamese named Suzy, who stole her heart.

She belonged to Christ Episcopal Church in Biddeford and The State of Maine Society of Mayflower Des

She was preceded in death by her brother, Willis Kelley and her sister, Dorothy Merrill. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Grondin and her daughters Laura and her husband Robert Hanson of Peterborough, NH, Katherine Grondin of Jacksonville, FL, Jane Caras of Saco, ME, Rebecca and her husband Mark Seymour of Randolph Center, VT. She leaves five grandchildren Annelies Hanson, Erica Hanson, Joseph Caras, Jane Seymour, and William Seymour.

Dear Joe: Although I never had the pleasure of meeting your spouse, I am sure she must have been real gem to be your companion for some 65 years+!. Although her physical presence is no longer evident, one need only close one's eyes and thus be able to enjoy the memories of the lifetime with her. Both Lynn and I are in our thoughts and prayers as you meet each passing day.
