Visiting hours are to be held at the Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 13 Portland Road, Buxton, Maine on Friday August 11, 2017 from 5 to 7 pm. A private family graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Gorham, where US Army honors will conclude the service, at a later date.

Obituary:
Windham, Gerald A. Bell, 86, of Walter Partridge Road, passed away Tuesday August 1, 2017 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born in Fryeburg, Maine on May 6, 1931 the son of Merton and May Charles Bell.

Gerald attended local schools and left at a young age in order to work the family farm while his older brothers served during World War II. He drove logging and milk trucks and later served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.


After his service to his country, he moved to Portland and drove for Merrill Transport for approximately forty years. After a brief retirement he drove another ten years for Shaw's Supermarket finally retiring in 2007.


For many years, he and his brothers worked the Pulling Ring at the Fryeburg, Fair. He enjoyed his vegetable garden, tending to his lawns, watching the Red Sox and visits with his friends and family.


Gerald is predeceased by siblings Marcia E. Hurd Ingraham, Ernest Owen Bell and Paul Bell.


He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Howard Bell of Windham, 2 sons, Gerald Bell II and his wife Marcia of Standish, and James Bell and his wife Lisa of Dayton and his daughter Jodi Winn and husband Cliff of Windham, 2 brothers Robert "Bobby" Bell and wife Margaret of Vergennes, Vermont., and Wayne "Skip" Bell and wife Cheryl of Conway, New Hampshire, and 7 grand children, Joshua, Joseph, Emily , Caitlyn, Evan, Hailey and Elizabeth.
