Funeral services will be Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 3 p.m. at New Life Community Church, 391 N. Main St., Brewer, Maine, with minister Gail Januskiewicz officiating. A celebration of Derek’s life with follow with a pot-luck. Financial contributions can be made in his name to his sister, Karrie Winch, 18 Emerson Drive, Hampden, Maine 04444.
Obituary:
Old Town – Derek James Porter, 43, passed away unexpectedly on October 23, 2016 in Saco. He was born on January 12, 1973 in Bangor, Maine, the son of Kevin Leon Porter and Debra Adline (Parker) Donelan. Derek attended schools in Hermon and Bangor. He worked as a carpenter with Danny Cray Carpentry for many years, taking great pride in his work. He loved his job and his work family. Derek loved his children with all his heart and will take their love with him. He was a great man with a heart of gold and would help anyone out if he could. His smile, laugh, and personality will be greatly missed by all of his family, friends, and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Derek is survived by his six children, Jacob, Madison, Zoey, Kevin, Sophie and Deacon Porter; his sister Karrie Winch, brother-in-law Alan Winch, and his nephews Collin Hewes and Kory Winch of Hampden; his sister and brother-in-law Nichole and Tony Brigalli and their children, Tyler, Emily and Andrew of Florida; his brother Eric Porter of Nevada; his brother Scott Porter of Florida; his grandparents Lorraine and Richard Tuck of Eddington, and William Porter of Arizona; step-brother Nick Godsoe of Lagrange; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends. Derek was predeceased by both his parents, grandparents Alfred and Mildred Gomm, and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
