Obituary:
Buxton - Teivy Davey Manuel, 99, died as she lived, with courage, determination and grace.
Born in Guernsey Cove, Kings County, Prince Edward Island, Canada, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Richards) Davey, one of 15 children. She was a naturalized US Citizen, who lived and raised her 6 children in Buxton, for more than 70 years. She worked for Cooperative Extension, Meals on Wheels, and as a home health aide. Members of her family and community were warmed by the work of her hands and nourished by her kitchen: mittens, hats, socks, sweaters, quilts, maple syrup, donuts, jams and more. She was devoted to her church, The Dorcas Society, The Woman's Fellowship, and was a past member of The Buxton-Hollis Historical Society and The Saco Valley Civic Association. She was the latest holder of Buxton’s Boston Post Cane.
Teivy is survived by her children Valerie (Dave) Blais, Marla (Leonard) Kelley, Elaine Manuel (Mark Guhl), Dwight Manuel (Diane Cerce) and Mark Manuel (Joni Sephton); grandchildren Jeremy (Tonya) Manuel, Eleanor (Robert) Guevara, Thomas Doherty, William (Mary Fraser) Blais, Jason Blais, Hilary Manuel, Sarah (Ryan) Becker and Molly (Chris) Payne; great grandchildren Taylor, Blade, Ashley, Juliet, Lillian, Taite, Charlie, Jonas, Cooper and Reagan Marie. She is survived by her sister Jean McSweyn and many nieces and nephews across Canada and the United States. She is predeceased by her eldest son Bruce Manuel.
