Obituary:
Gregory Andrew Collins MD, 47, of Saco, passed away unexpectedly April 7. A loving husband and wonderful father, Greg is survived by his wife, Tracey Ann, and their three children: Rowan Mary, William Andrew and Faye Annabel; in addition to his parents, Dennis and Dolores Collins of Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts; sister Shannon Mary Collins of Plymouth, Massachusetts; father-in-law William Abbott of Saco; and mother-in-law Claudia Abbott of Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
Born in Newton, Massachusetts, Greg graduated from Longmeadow High School in 1984. An All-American athlete in lacrosse for the UMASS Minutemen, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts. At the age of 36, Greg decided he wanted to become a doctor so he could help others, and later graduated from St. Christopher’s Medical School in England.
A very devoted and accomplished family physician at Southern Maine Healthcare Family Medicine in Saco, he was supported by a great staff, including Kimberlie Rice, MA. He cared deeply about his patients and their families. In his spare time, Greg enjoyed golfing and was a member at Biddeford-Saco Country Club.
Greg loved his family dearly and will be missed by all whose lives he touched

We are overwhelmed ... Dr. Collins was the man we trusted in the medical world. Frank and honest, sincere and genuine ... we knew he truly cared for our well being. Clearly this speaks to the man he was and gave us great reassurance. Yet, our loss is nothing compared to that of his family ... we can only hope that the service he provided to ourselves and most assuredly others can only help those left behind appreciate what a special man and physician he was. Always loved the bed-head, casual but deliberate approach. We'll miss your cool socks, Dr. Collins.
