Harvey F. Armstrong, 93, passed away on January 26, 2015 at his home on the Hurlin Smith Road in Buxton. He was born in Machiasport on January 30, 1921, the son of Leroy and Carrie Libby Armstrong.
Harvey served in the Army as a Medic in 24th Medical Battalion during World War II. He worked many years at Rostand's Foundry in Milford, CT until retirement. He retired to his home State of Maine settling in Machias and later relocating to Buxton.
Harvey's hobby was axe throwing and he was right on target. He was an avid western novel reader and listener of public radio; he especially liked Dr. Bob and spent his days listening to Old Time radio shows. Harvey loved to be at home with family, sharing his stories of war and memories of younger years. Harvey had a great sense of humor.
He was predeceased by his wife Elsie Johnson Armstrong; his son Gary Armstrong; his brothers Warren Armstrong, Albert Armstrong and Percy Armstrong; his sisters Elsie Johnson, Eva Robinson and Esther Fouhy.
He is survived by his son Milton Armstrong of Bridgeport, CT; his daughters Helen Renshaw of Buxton and Carrie Lea Shaw of Cutler; his sister Alice Polley of Machias; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
