Obituary:
Thelma Fairfeld Kimball, 95, passed away early Christmas morning. She was born on December 17, 1919 in Biddeford, the daughter of Edward and Gladys Farr Fairfield. Thelma attended Thornton Academy and worked in the shoe shops and as a crossing guard.
She enjoyed crafts, sewing and was a highly skilled seamstress, she loved to make dolls and give them to needy children. Walking, walking! Thelma loved to walk; she would often walk to Biddeford with her daughter Linda in snowstorms and shop. The more stormy, the more enthusiastic Thelma was. In her later years, Thelma, or Gramma, as she was affectionately called, repurposed furniture by painting landscape scenes all over them. She created one of a kind dressers, chairs, and end tables. Gramma had a quick wit and easily saw the humor in situations. She was a practical, yet fashionable dresser, always making simple style tasteful. Thelma had an insatiable thirst for knowledge; she always wanted to know what words meant and how they fit into the culture at large. She was a life-long learner, reading much in her last years.
She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd in 2007 and a sister Pauline Fournier.
Thelma is survived by her son Robert and his wife Diana Kimball of St. Louis, MO; her daughter Linda and her husband Russ of Norridgewock; a sister Caroline; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
