Obituary:
Gladys Idylle Michaud, age 98, of Limington passed away at the Maine Medical Center in Portland on November 29, 2014. One of eight children, she was born in Leeds, Maine, December 3, 1915, the daughter of Bertelle and Ida Mae Danforth Morris. Gladys attended school in Leeds, graduated from Leavitt High School and then graduated from the University of Farmington with a Bachelors Degree in Education.
Working summers as a waitress in Ogunquit, she met one of the chefs, Edward L. Michaud, married him on Labor Day and then they took the train to Boston for a lifetime together. For forty years they lived in Stoneham, Massachusetts but returned to Maine to retire in Limington in 1978. They traveled throughout New England and spent a lot of time at their beloved cottage on Sebago Lake. She lived for her family, loved family get-togethers and loved nature. She also enjoyed collecting stamps, reading poetry, gardening, bird watching, and sewing. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Her husband of sixty-two years died in 2000.
Gladys is survived by two sons, Leslie E. Michaud and his wife Nancy of Sweden, Maine, David L. Michaud and his wife Bonnie of Winthrop, and a daughter Susan E. McCarthy of Hollis and her husband Michael, a sister Muriel Pratt and her husband Gene of Turner, Maine, five grandchildren, Edward Michaud, David Michaud and partner Shelby, Kelly Alverson and husband Kevin, Elaine Marhefka and husband Frank, and Paul, and two great grand children, Frankie and Idelle.
