Harvey Parmenas MacLeod - age: 85

A memorial service to celebrate Harvey’s life will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 11am at the First Parish Congregational Church, 12 Beach St., Saco. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco. The Rev. Dr. Doug Nielsen will officiate. Arrangements are with Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main Street, Saco. Harvey P. MacLeod, 85, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at St. Andre’ Health Care in Biddeford after a long illness.
Harvey was born on February 10, 1929 in Prince Edward Island, Canada to the late John and Martha (Rix) MacLeod. At 5 months old, they moved to Melrose, Mass. He attended Melrose High School. He also played football, hockey and baseball for various club teams in the Boston area; he was a very good athlete. He married Patricia Merrill in 1947 and started their family of 8 children. They moved to Saco in 1962 with LynFlex Industries as a foreman, where he worked for 41 years.
Harvey coached Saco Little League for years and was an assistant Thornton Academy Softball coach. He and Pat attended many activities and sporting events for their children and grandchildren. He was an avid Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and Patriots fan. He followed Thornton Academy football for 52 years. He loved hockey all his life. He will be missed by the Burger King crew.
He was a member of First Parish Congregational Church, UCC in Saco.
Harvey was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Patricia MacLeod.
He is survived by five daughters, Nancy P. Burnell of Saco, Kathryn Bernier and her husband Joe of Dayton, Norma Chenard and her husband William of Saco, Jacquelyn Boucher and her husband John of Biddeford and Tracy Spangler and her husband Mark of Lewisburg, WV; three sons, James MacLeod and his wife Susan of Saco, Dan MacLeod and his wife Lisa of New Gloucester and Kenneth MacLeod of Old Orchard Beach; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
