Friends and relatives may call from 1:00pm to 2:00PM on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Hollis Center Baptist Church 388 Hollis Road, Hollis Center. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 at the Church. Pastor Ron Sargent will officiate. Burial will follow at Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery.

Obituary:
Jessie Giddens, 101, formerly of Plains Road, Hollis, went home to be with the Lord this morning, September 12, 2014, at the Greenwood Center in Sanford. Jessie was born on January 19, 1913 in Malden, MA, the daughter of William B.C. and Mary Ann (Thomas) Pratt. She was a graduate of Everett High School where she was a member of the Glee Club. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Everett and later of the First Baptist Church of Maplewood where she taught Sunday School, led the youth group with her husband, and was a member of The Plus Ultra Class.
Jessie became a resident of Rowley, MA in 1950 and joined the First Baptist Church where she served on the Missionary and Finance Committees. She was also president of the Ladies Auxiliary for several years. She served as treasurer of the Rowley Council of Aging and helped deliver Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed entertaining and often had missionary visitors as houseguests. Jessie moved to Hollis in 1994 where she became a member of the Hollis Center Baptist Church. She was also active in the Friendship Bible Study Group at the church.
Her hobbies included Japanese Bunka, knitting, crocheting and working in her flower garden.
At the age of 101, she received the Boston Post Cane as the Town of Hollis oldest resident.
Jessie was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey, who she married in 1942, her sister, Ellen Knowles and her brother William Pratt.
She is survived by her two daughters, Priscilla Hodgkins of Norwich, CT and Beverly Giddens of Hollis, two grandchildren Larry and Lynnette and one great-granddaughter, Emily.
