Friends and family may call Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 1:30 til 2pm at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Portland Road, Buxton. A 2pm memorial service will follow at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at Tory Hill at a later date.

Claire E. Young, 85, of Winter Street, Buxton passed away at the Monarch Center in Saco on Wednesday morning, August 6, 2014. Claire was born in Winchester, MA on February 15, 1929, the daughter of John and Catherine Margerson Selfridge. She graduated from Reading High School in Reading, MA. She married Francis E. Young in 1949 and recently celebrated their 64th Anniversary. She and her husband travelled across America. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting gardening and raising her kids.
She is survived by her husband, 5 sons Daniel and his wife Linda of Baldwin, Glenn and his wife Mary of Limerick, David and his wife Marilyn of Hollis, Kenny and his wife Leanne of Hollis, Kevin and his wife Beverly of Buxton, 2 daughters Beverly and her husband Douglas Remington of Hollis and Brenda and her husband Michael Vessels of Jacksonville, FL, a brother, Jimmy Selfridge of Reading, MA, 2 sisters Betty Deason of Centerville, AL, and Jacqueline Wiese of Reading, MA, 21 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
