Patricia A. Billett, 83, of Biddeford Pool passed away March 28, 2014 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. She was born in Bangor, September 16, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Reverend Stanley B. Hyde and Arelene Ware Hyde. She grew up in Southwest Harbor, Me; Ludlow and Burlington, Vermont, graduating from Burlington High School in 1948. She graduated from Lasall Junior College, Auburndale, MA in 1950 and Boston University College of Public Relations and Communications in 1952 where she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority and Alpha Rho Professional Fraternity.
She was married to Herbert P. Billett in 1952 and lived in Bangor for 16 years where she was a member of the Junior League, Quipus Club, JC Wives and University Women. They lived in Brockton and West Bridgewater, MA until 1992 when she and her husband retired to their summer home at Biddeford Pool. She was an education paraprofessional working with Chapter One students and later elementary school secretary for 18 years while living in Massachusetts. She was President of the paraprofessional Educational Assistants for several years and was active as a board member of the Brockton Hospital Womenís Guild.
Since moving to Biddeford Pool, she served of the Board and was secretary of the Biddeford Pool Improvement Association, was active with the Biddeford Pool Citizenís Association and a member of the Biddeford Pool Community Club Board. She was also a member of the Southern Maine Medical Center Womenís Auxiliary. She served on the Auxiliary Board as Recording Secretary and volunteered in the gift shop. She was a member for 8 years of the Biddeford Coastal Area Committee. She was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church UCC in Saco and served on many committees there over the years. She volunteered at the Saco Food Pantry, Bon Appetite Meals program.
Theater, concerts and world traveling were her favorite pastimes, as well as gardening, reading, puzzles, knitting, sewing and in her younger years, skiing and swimming.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, a daughter , Kim M. Billett of Northboro, MA and two grandchildren, Cory and Lindsey Bachausen and two great grandchildren. A daughter, Karen Jeanne, predeceased her in 2004.
