Obituary:
GORHAM - Barbara Dougherty, 83, of 17 Laurel Pines Dr., died peacefully on
February 15, 2014 at The Monarch Center in Saco. Barbara's final days were spent
surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born in Jersey City, NJ October 27, 1930, daughter of Sylvester
and Florence (Post) Sullivan. In 1955 Barbara married James T. Dougherty, Sr.
and they raised a family together. He passed away on July 11, 2007. She is also
predeceased by her brother Ronald and sister Geraldine.
Barbara is survived by her four children; Kathleen and husband John, Jim Jr.
and wife Sue, Paul and wife Debe, and Ronald Dougherty, as well as her five
grandchildren; Jason, Richard, Catherine, James III, and Christina. She is also
survived by two sisters-in law, Margaret Dougherty and Ann Dougherty, brother-in-law, Jim O’Brien, five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family. Barbara loved when the whole family was gathered together
at once.
We wish to thank her caregiver, Ashley Leavitt, The Monarch Center of Saco and
SolAmor Hospice for their excellent care of Barbara and support for our family.
There will not be a service at this time. We will have a celebration with
family and friends at a later date.
