Obituary:
We are saddened to announce the passing of Dorothy Tkacik Rizzon beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was born in 1927 in Raritan, NJ to Slovic immigrants.

Dorothy pursued a nursing career where she excelled. She received recognition for her superior skill. She dedicated the early part of her career to treating people suffering with polio.

In 1949 she married the love of her life. They later moved to Vermont and raised four children who have happy memories of Christmas cookies, toboggan rides, fresh apples, pear pies, and moonlight in Vermont.

After raising her family, she worked as a nurse at Central Vermont Medical Center for more than 20 years. Dorothy continued her love of nursing by volunteering at Southern Maine Medical Center for the remainder of her life.

Dorothy was one of a kind. She loved flowers and gardens, hummingbirds, holidays and decorating, the color yellow, gift giving whenever possible and trips with her family. She always sought to find the best in people and not focus on their faults. She was more spiritual then most without going to church. She was incredibly brilliant: a world traveler, a trivia wizard, an avid reader, and a lover of music. No one had a greater appreciation of chocolate.

Baba will live in our hearts forever.

She is survived by her brother Francis Tkacik, Her four children:

Amy Levasseur and husband Robert Levasseur,

Christopher Rizzon and partner Lisa Helgenberg

Beth Rizzon, and

Sally McGarry and husband Jack McGarry,

Her grand children:

AJ Helgenberg,Sebastian Rizzon, Bianca Vanderpool Macdonald,Orville Vanderpool, Rory McGarry, Curran McGarry, Jay Levasseur and Andre Levasseur,

And her great grandchildren: Sailor, Amelia, Maya, Callen ,Trystan, Hazel and

Kaleb.

There is much to say and so much that we have lost. May she forever rest in peace.

Friends and relatives may call at the Dennett, Craig & Pate 365 Main St, Saco from 3 to 4 on Sunday August 18, 2013. A graveside service will be held Monday 10:00AM at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Deering Park Section. For those wishing to post condolences please go to WWW.DCPate.com

My dear Aunt Dorothy. Though you were in your golden years, you left us too soon. There is never enough time with those we love. You were such a steady and loving presence in my life growing up, from my memories of NJ, going to the the Englishtown flea market with Chris in a stroller, visiting my infant brother, Scott, you cared for while my mother recovered from hepatitis, to such wonderful memories of visiting you and my cousins in VT. When I think of you I feel warm, safe, and peaceful. You will always be remembered as a beloved member of our family, and your memory will always bring me joy. I will always love you.

I was saddened to hear about Dot's passing. She became very special to me after knowing her for only one year. We would share stories and it was always a treat for me to listen to what she had to say. Her favorite saying "You know what I mean" will be with me for quite some time. It was certainly my pleasure that our paths crossed, if for just awhile. Sincerely, Janet Dardano
