A memorial service will be held at the First Parish Congregational Church of Saco UCC, Saturday, May 4 at 11 AM. Rev. Doug Nielson will officiate. Services will be concluded with military honors. Burial will take place at a later date. Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main Street, Saco are in charge of the arrangements.

Obituary:
SACO – Retired Air Force Colonel, George B. Lapham, 74, of Seaside Avenue, Saco, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.
He was born in Norwood, Massachusetts, May 1, 1938, the son of Alfred and Dorothy Weed Lapham.
He graduated from Westwood High School in 1956 and from Babson College with a degree in Business Administration in 1959.
George was a true patriot, serving in the United States Air Force for over 21 years. His service included flying F100’s in Vietnam. He received many Military honors, including The Distinguished Flying Cross and the Legion of Merit. He retired from the Air Force in 1981 as a full Colonel.
He was a member of “Misty”, an elite few who flew fast FACS (Forward Air Control) over North Vietnam.
He was a former branch manager for the York County Federal Credit Union and most recently worked for Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home.
He is a member and former deacon for the First Parish Congregational Church of Saco UCC,Top of the Hill Gang, member of the Dunlop Masonic Lodge of Biddeford and Order of the Daedalians (National fraternity of fighter pilots)
George enjoyed spending time with his family and running was a lifelong passion.
George is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlotte Lapham of Saco, 2 sons, Gary Lapham and his wife Joannah of Kennebunk, Eric Lapham and his wife Jennifer of Newbury, MA, a brother Alfred Lapham and his wife Joan of Scituate, MA, a sister, Jill Kelly and her husband Oliver of Westwood, MA, 4 grandchildren, Hank, Jack, Drew and Tommy.
