Obituary:
"
Our dear father and grandfather (Papou) passed away peacefully surrounded
by family on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough.
Stalios or \""Steve\"" was born on May 29, 1915 in Lowell, MA. He was the son of Nicholas and Katina Kokinakos Kalagias and brother to Alexandra.
Steve attended Saco schools and graduated from Thornton Academy in
1936. He loved the sport of football and made All State and captain
during his senior year.

After serving in the US Army during World War II, he opened up the Tickle
Toe Cafe. Years later he closed the cafe and began making plans with
his wife, Artemis, to open up a pizza shop. Pizza by Michael, named
after his son, opened up its doors in 1966. All three of his children,
Katina, Nikki, and Michael, worked in the shop making it a truly family
run business. Steve enjoyed talking to his customers and having his
Greek friends come in during the quiet afternoon hours to reminisce
about Greece and discuss politics. He loved spending time with his
grandchildren, taking trips with his wife and friends, and going to the
racetrack. Steve was a member of St. Demetrios Church and the Lacones.

Steve is predeceased by his parents and a sister Alexandra.
Survivors include his wife of over 60 years of marriage, Artemis Kalagias of Saco, two daughters, Katina Sherman and her husband John of Saco, Nikki Diamond and her husband Nicholas of Pennsylvania, a son Michael Kalagias and his wife Vera of Saco, five grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie, Peter, Katherine, Gregory, Anastasia, and a great grandson Nicholas.
