Obituary:
Saco, Maine – Robert (Bob) Bruce Tarason, passed away peacefully Thursday October 6, 2022, in Camp Ellis Maine at the age of 83. Bob was born June 7, 1939, in Lynn Massachusetts, to Nicholas and Hazel Tarason. Bob is predeceased by his loving wife, Mary Bongiorno Tarason. Bob and Mary were married for almost 35 years and resided in both Nahant, MA and Henderson, NV. Bob is also predeceased by his first wife, Joanne (Schultz) Tarason and is survived by Bob and Joanne’s two children, David Tarason and Susan Sonesson, David’s children, Anna and Nicholai, Susan’s children Elin, Hanna, and Gustav as well as a Great Grandson, Magnus. Bob is also survived by his brother James (Russell) Tarason aka Great, great Uncle Jim.
Bob attended Lynn public Schools and proudly received his college degree from Salem State Teacher’s College. Although he enjoyed teaching High School Math in both Lynn and Woburn, he loved being a local business owner. After being involved in several start-ups, he was inspired by the developments in the quick printing industry and soon was the proud owner of his own printing company. Bob’s business grew and developed throughout the years and at the time of his retirement was called Northern Graphics Digital Printing and Copying Center. Bob fully attributed his success to his ability to surround himself with a talented, dedicated team. He recently reflected that he looked forward to and enjoyed every day he went to work.
Although Bob and Mary traveled extensively, they also enjoyed quiet nights at home cooking and entertaining family and friends. The night life of Las Vegas lured them west but the strong friendships they built kept them there. Bob returned to the east coast after Mary’s passing in 2020 but this time to Maine where he lived with his daughter, Susan and her boyfriend, John.
Bob had quite an adventure the last years of his life and although over 80 years old experienced many firsts. He went on his first cross country road trip, he spent his first winter in Florida, he attended his first grandchild’s wedding ceremony, and he had the pleasure of holding his first great grandchild. Bob also had one last great love affair. He surprisingly fell in love with Lucy, his granddaughter’s dog. This is the first time Bob fell in love with a dog and the love was mutual. Bob’s negotiation skills came in handy when he artfully negotiated his way through his last business deal and won shared custody of Lucy. Lucy provided Bob with comfort and company, especially during his last days.
A special thank you to, Cathy, Bob’s neighbor in Camp Ellis, Ralph, Bob’s neighbor in Florida, the kind and skillful Hospice Team, and especially to Gayle Myers who not only gave him wonderful care but also became a dear friend.
Although services will be private, Bob did have a final wish to connect with those he cared about. He would love for the many people he met throughout the years, both in business and in personal relationships, to choose coffee, beer or a cocktail, raise it high, reminisce over old times and enjoy! In Bob’s unending wisdom, he also encourages anyone with a strained relationship, to do his/her best to forgive, resolve, mend and choose kindness and love.
