Elizabeth Hodgkins McElvein died peacefully on October 30, 2012.
She was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Ida Caroline Connors and Wilder Noyes Hodgkins in 1916. She attended the Medford Public Schools and graduated from Simmons College in 1937.
After working for a while, she married Clark C. McElvein in 1941. They spent their first years in the Navy stationed in Virginia where their son, David, was born and Massachusetts where their daughter, Betsy, was born.
The family lived in Northboro and Acton, Massachusetts. Betty worked as a secretary for The Massachusetts Extension Service and Digital Equipment as well as volunteering for her church and children’s activities, drawing and painting. She and Clark retired to the winterized summer cottage in Ocean Park, Maine in 1976.
Betty was predeceased by Clark, Nancy Hodgkins O’Neil, her sister and Priscilla Partridge McElvein, her sister-in-law.
She leaves David and his wife Karen; Betsy and her husband, Ben Soule; John P. O’Neil and Richard B. McElvein, brother-in-law. Grandchildren: Scott D McElvein, Sarah McElvein Redden and her husband, Brian; Great grandchildren: Austin, Garrett and Kylie Redden and Ethan McElvein and nieces and Nephews.
