Friends and family may call to Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral home, 365 Main Street, Saco, Friday, December 21, 2012 from 4 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Goodwins Mills Advent Church, Pastor Nick Foss will officiate. Burial will follow at Goodwins Mills Cemetery.

GOODWINS MILLS – Jean O. Goodwin, age 83, of Waterhouse Road, Dayton passed away peacefully on December 17, 2012 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough surrounded by her family.

She was born May 31, 1929 in Lynn, Massachusetts, the daughter of Alonzo E. Flanders and Odessa Purdy Sims.

She attended school in Sanford, graduated from Kennebunk High School and thereafter, graduated from Fisher Junior College in Boston, pursuing a career as a medical and legal secretary for many years.

Jean served the Town of Dayton for several years as Tax Collector and volunteered at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. She was a member and Past Matron for the Order of the Eastern Star and a long time member and deaconess of the Goodwins Mills Advent Christian Church, where she also served on the Women’s home and Foreign Mission Society.

Her hobbies comprised of reading, traveling, knitting, bowling with the Saco Bowling League and puzzles of all sorts.

She is predeceased by her husband, Leo Goodwin in October 2012 and her sister, Helen Joyce Meserve.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Goodwin of Biddeford, Ross Goodwin and his wife Janet of Windham, two daughters, Janis Johnson and her husband Daniel of West Wareham, Massachusetts, Lyla Kyriazi and her husband Constantine of Saco, eight grandchildren, Nathan, Seth, Bronwyn, Benjamin, Zachary, Atalanta, Jason, Adam, three great grandchildren, Katie, Isabella, Boston.
