Janet Keller Janet Ann Keller - age: 69
(March 16, 1952 to March 06, 2022 )
Resident of Ocean Park, Maine

Obituary:
Janet Ann Keller, known as "Mississippi" to her friends and fellow Old Orchard Beach Food Pantry volunteers, passed away at Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford, Sunday, March 6, 2022. She was born March 16, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to the parents of David and Pearl Barley. Janet survived her husband, veteran J.D. Keller with whom she shared the happiest times in her life.

Janet is survived by her sisters Brenda W. Kesseler and Tonua Fedusenko and brother-in-law, Vasile Vancea, Enterprise, Alabama; her brother David Barley and sister-in-law Rebecca Barley of Vancleave, Mississippi; nephew Mark Mathias and wife Lisa of LaGrange, North Carolina; nephew Jason Fedusenko of Los Angeles, California and her niece Sarah Long and husband Aaron of Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.

When Janet moved to Maine to join her sisters living in Old Orchard Beach, she brought her southern Mississipp accent with her. This distinguishable accent, coupled with her evident love for Mississippi, created her nickname "Mississippi" by all those who knew and loved her in Maine. Janet loved her Maine community as well serving as a volunteer for the Old Orchard Beach Food Pantry where she sorted produced, bagged vegetables, shelved bread and cartoned eggs - helping to ensure the best possible products for residents in need. Her volunteer work at the Old Orchard Beach Food Pantry, and that of her co-volunteers, would go on to be noted in local newspapers.

Janet also had a great love for animals. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk, Maine where she adopted her beloved cat Patti Ann.
