BUXTON- Ramona Frances Curtis, 93, of Buxton died unexpectedly on October 29, 2012
surrounded by her closest family.
She was born on September 9, 1919 in South Paris, Maine, the only daughter
of Robert Louis Kerr and Marion Frances (Spencer) Kerr. Ramona attended
South Paris schools before attending Bay Path College in Longmeadow,
Massachusetts. After college, Ramona moved back to Maine where she worked
as a secretary at the shipyard in South Portland. She met her husband,
Leonard James Curtis Sr., a salesman by trade, when he knocked on her door
by chance. The two married in Portland on December 18, 1949. Shortly
after the birth of their son, Dane Spencer, the young family moved to the
Wedding Cake House in Kennebunk where Leonard served as the property’s
caretaker. The family moved to Saco in 1956 where she would stay home to
care for her son and keep house. Ramona and Leonard enjoyed thirty four
years of marriage.
Ramona loved the Red Sox, good food, keeping up with current events,
reading, and spending time with her family. She will forever be
remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Ramona was predeceased by her husband, Leonard J. Curtis Sr., her two
brothers, Robert S. Kerr and Albert H. Kerr, and her step-son, Leonard J. Curtis Jr.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Dane and Susan Curtis, of Buxton;
her step-daughter, Mary Smith, of Westbrook; her grandson, Derek Curtis
and his wife Erin, their children Jackson Dane, Leah Marilyn and Reese
Ramona, of Buxton and her grandson, Sean Curtis of Saco.
