Robert Weymouth Cole, Jr. was born on June 27, 1931, and passed away on December 30, 2020. He is now asleep in Jesus, awaiting the Lord's Return.
He was born and raised in Dayton, Maine and graduated as valedictorian of Biddeford High School in 1948. He graduated from Aurora College with a BS in Business in 1952. That same year, he married Joan Marshall of Searsport, Maine, and they settled in Dayton. He was drafted into the Army and served in the MPs during his term in Japan. After his term of service, he resumed his work at Cole Farm Dairy and furthered his education by earning an MBA at the University of Maine. During his time in Dayton, he served on the boards of numerous civic and charitable institutions, including: the Town of Dayton, the Biddeford-Saco Rotary Club, the Alton Bay Christian Campmeeting Association, the Webber Hospital, and the Goodwins Mills Advent Christian Church, of which he was an active member.
In 1981, he and Joan moved to Charlotte, NC to assume the role of chief financial officer for the Advent Christian denomination, where he served until 1995. In their retirement years, Robert and Joan moved to Mars Hill, NC. There he served with the Kiwanis Club, the Mars Hill library, Habitat for Humanity, the local food pantry and visited the sick as part of his work with the Mars Hill Baptist Church. He received a citation from the Governor of North Carolina for his humanitarian work. In 2017, they returned to Maine and lived in Kennebunk.
He is predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Curran, and his parents, Robert W Cole Sr & Dorothy T Cole. He is survived by Joan M Cole, his loving wife, his children: Martha Cole of Charlotte, North Carolina, Peter & Priscilla Cole of Aurora, Illinois and Stephen & Karen Cole of Dayton, Maine, his grandchildren: Emory Cole of Oakland, California and Eliza Cole and her husband, Jared St Onge of Kennebunk, Maine, his siblings: Gordon & Isolde Cole of Dayton, Maine and Marjorie Thompson of Ferryville, Wisconsin, and numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
