Obituary:
Hollis - Robert Hyde Dennison Jr passed away at home on September 8, 2020, with his family by his side, after a brief illness.
He was born in Portland on June 6, 1936, the son of Robert and Ann Montefusco. As a boy, Robert attended Portland schools before he enlisted in the United States Air Force for a proud 24 years. When he retired, he came home to Portland where he met Julia Lynds. They married on June 5th, 1982. Robert was married previously and had 5 children with his first wife Annie Martin. Robert and Julia shared 9 children. The couple loved to travel and explore the world together before returning to their families in Maine. They settled and spent the remainder of their wonderful 44 years of marriage.
His most selfless act came in 2005 when Robert and Julia received guardianship of their 3-month-old granddaughter, Jubalee. They enjoyed every minute of raising her, and he would often say, “God definitely has his plans for everyone, and his plan for me was to be here to raise Jubalee all these years”.
Robert had many names: Hon, Dad, Gramps, Papa, Junior - They all represented the same thing, LOVE.
His favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family by the lake, at their camp in Milo. He also loved going to the casinos. Robert had 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He adored each and every one of them as they did him.
Robert will be forever missed by his family and friends, he was a great man!
He is predeceased by his son, Robert Hyde Dennison III, son Bertran Chadwick, grandson Michael Laflamme and grandson Jason Steeves. He is also predeceased by his parents, a sister Gail Tripp, and two brothers Vincent Moore and Walter Packard.
He is survived by his wife Julia Dennison of Hollis, daughter Debora Godbout and her husband Tom, daughter Robin Laflamme and her husband Kevin, daughter Patricia Frazier and her husband Raymond, daughter Helen Cox and her husband Jeff, son Duane Dennison and his wife Sue, son Michael Dennison, daughter-in-law Debora Dennison, and daughter-in-law Julie Chadwick. Robert is also survived by six sisters: Marion Dube, Alice Grover, Eileen Thompson, Marie Eastman, Carol Easler, and Barbara Hinkley, his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
