Obituary:
Saco - On Thursday, August 27, 2020, Patricia (Patsy) E. Schaffer, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at the age of 72.

Patsy was born on August 12, 1948 in the small seacoast town of Searsport, ME to James and Marguerite (Barter) Engstrom. She was one of five children.

Professionally, Patsy worked for many years as an office manager across industries including distribution logistics, insurance, legal and real estate, which included a one-year adventure to Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. She was most recently employed at Rite Aid/Walgreens in Old Orchard Beach. She took great pride in everything she did and was well-known for her attention to detail, strong work ethic and recognized on many occasions as an outstanding employee.

Her family lovingly remembers her as an amazing cook and baker, who decorated the most beautiful cakes for every occasion. However, Patsy was best known as an exceptionally talented and accomplished seamstress. Over the years she was always sewing, she especially loved quilting. Her quilts were much admired not only by friends and family, but also by all who lived in her community where her quilts are beautifully displayed. Patsy found solace in her sewing and taught others in her community the same. She was well-known for her desire to help others and her kind and compassionate nature. Patsy will be forever remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends.

Patsy was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy, and her mother, Marguerite. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dennis Schaffer, her two children, Travis (Denise) Harriman and Tracey (DJ) Corbitt, two step daughters, Tara (Keith) Hatfield and Karen Schaffer, her brother James Jr. (Elsbeth) Engstrom, three sisters Diane (Wayne) Leavitt, Darlene (Don) Herrick, and Sheila (Jeremy) Williams, five grandchildren (Kaitlin, Jaci, Kegan, Lindsey and Jack), best friend and cousin Avis (Richard) Winchester, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Sweet Patsy, she was fun, patient, creative and unique. I could go on and on but most o all she was loving, giving and big hearted. Best of all she was MY FRIEND. I miss her so much and always will.
