Shelby will be buried beside her husband Clarence at the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta on Friday, Oct. 12 at 1 PM.

BUXTON- Shelby J. Donna, age 74, of Narragansett Trail, passed away on Oct. 8, 2012 at Maine Medical Center after a courageous battle with Kidney Disease.
She was born on Nov. 18, 1937, in Greenville, SC, a daughter of the late Luther and Stella (Spivey) Hamby.
After graduating from Greenville High School in 1954, Shelby went on to start her working career. In 2002, she retired from Fairchild Semiconductor after being employed there for 25 years.
Shelby’s greatest love in life was her husband Clarence who passed away in 2000 after 47 years of marriage.
Shelby trained and showed dogs all over New England and Canada with her husband. Beginning in 1957, she has owned and cared for many Cocker Spaniels. Her most recent Cocker Spaniel was her rescue dog named Jack. Both Shelby and Clarence were avid Maine Mariner fans and participated in their booster club for a number of years.
In addition to her beloved husband Clarence, Shelby is predeceased by a niece- Carol Murray of Cape Elizabeth; nephew- David Murray of Cape Elizabeth; and by many of her four legged friends including Peter and Taffus.
She is survived by her niece- Becky Murray and her husband Alan of Midland, Michigan; two grand nieces- Amanda and Carol of Midland, Michigan; a sister and brother-in-law- Corinne and Arnold Murray of Cape Elizabeth; special friends Pam, Kim and Glennis; Visiting Nurse-Karen; and her loving companion Cocker Spaniel- Jack.
Shelby will be buried beside her husband Clarence at the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta on Friday, Oct. 12 at 1 PM.
Arrangements are with Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home – Buxton.

Shelby & I met in January when she adopted my foster dog, Jack and we became fast friends. I will miss our conversations. Jack I love you and so did your mom, you were the light of her life and I'm so glad you were able to have this time together.
