Laura (Graziano) Weikle, age 93, passed away July 5, 2020 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME. She was born in East Boston, MA on July 15, 1926, the youngest of five children born to Otino and Giuseppa (Marraffino) Graziano, who emigrated from Italy in 1906. Laura would often say her best years were spent raising her own four children in East Boston living close by to her siblings and parents for many years on the same street. These times in the old neighborhood are but a dream now when her children could walk to good schools, come home to a welcoming mother, play safely on the city streets with friends, and enjoy home cooked recipes handed down from her parents. And like so many of her generation, she was tough and unassuming, ready to impart to future generations of her family good values and lessons she herself learned from growing up in the Great Depression. In this respect Laura’s family contribution has been enduring. It is this proud legacy that lives on in the hearts and minds of those who knew her.
Before moving to Old Orchard Beach, Laura lived in Arlington, MA for many years.
Laura is survived by four children: Dennis Weikle and his wife, Therese; Thomas Weikle and his husband, Joseph Rogers; Janis Fahey and her life partner, Robert Fili; and Lorraine Weikle who also acted as her caregiver and companion for many years. Also survived by four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a niece, Josephine Graziano; a nephew, David Zampese; and her cherished cat, Lovey.
