Visitation will be on Monday morning, Aug. 13, from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at the Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home, 36 Portland Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at St. Margaret’s Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Old Orchard Beach. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco.

Obituary:
OLD ORCHARD BEACH- Edward “Ed” George Collins, age 72, of Wild Dunes Way, passed away on Thursday in Scarborough.
He was born in New Jersey on May 17, 1940, a son of the late Edward and Lesbia Collins, and grew up in Miami, FL.
After high school, Ed was graduated from Auburn University in Alabama with a Bachelor of Science Degree, and went on to proudly serve as an officer in the US Navy.
Ed worked for many years as a computer programmer at Houghton-Mifflin Publishing in Boston, and raised his family in the town of Windham, NH. Upon retirement, Ed and his wife Judy relocated to Old Orchard Beach, ME, where he enjoyed golf and summers by the ocean.
He was a parishioner at St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard Beach.
Ed was an avid golfer, a New England sports fan- especially the Red Sox, and was a fan of Auburn University football. He also enjoyed traveling, spending summers in Maine and winters in Florida, and being with his beloved grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his wife- Judith (Rodrigues) Collins in 2006.
Ed is survived by his children- Kirstie Collins Brote and her husband Kirk of North Waterboro and Edward “Bill” Collins and his wife Jill of Tierra Verde, FL; sister- Lesbia Collier and her husband Bob of Yuba City, CA; grandchildren- Jett, Stella, Quinn, Chloe, and Summer; and many dear friends.
