There will be a private grave side burial in the spring. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday December 23, 2018 from 1-4pm at The American Legion Hall located at 300 Conant Street, Westbrook. Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home and Cremation 13 Portland Road, Buxton (Bar Mills) Maine is entrusted with the arrangements. Providing service to our Veterans with Honor.
Obituary:
Standish - Dennis H. Doherty passed away on December 3, 2018 at the age of 71. Dennis graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1966. He married Cynthia E. Smith on May 27, 1967 and together they had four children.
Dennis is pre- deceased by his wife Cynthia. He is survived by his longtime companion Holly Mains, his sons Dennis Jr, Jeffery, and Michael and his daughter Lisa. Dennis had three grand-daughters Nicole, Destiny, and Koral Doherty and a grandson Chance Doherty. He had two foster grand-daughters Nicole Delisle and Kayla Carrigan and a great granddaughter Profet.
Dennis was a proud Navy veteran who served 3 years, mostly on the Richard L. Page DEG-5 as a plank owner. He worked two jobs to support his family for many years- He was the co-owner of Shed Happens, Inc with his son Michael. Dennis also retired from the South Portland Fire Department in 1995 after more than two decades. Dennis enjoyed traveling and hunting with his sons.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough for their support during this difficult time.
