Obituary:
Biddeford – Gordon Joel Davis passed away peacefully on September 26, 2018 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Gordon was born on May 7, 1957 in Tallahassee, Florida, the son of Eldred and Lucinda McGraw Davis.

Gordon grew up with his five siblings in Congers, NY, a quiet suburb of NYC. When Gordon was in his last year of high school, he moved to Berkeley, CA where he lived with his favorite aunt, Martha Thompson and continued his education. Shortly later he moved to San Francisco and the Bay Area of California which he absolutely loved. He continued to study many areas of interest while working in an eclectic array of professions - from medical technician, food inspector at Del Monte to taxi driver. Gordon also served in the Air National Guard.

Gordon was a world traveler and when his brother John told him about Portland, ME, Gordon made a visit in 1998 and never left. There, he became a master gardener, amateur sailor, and avid outdoorsman. Gordon enjoyed books and music of all types and he was a lover of the Arts and Sciences.

Gordon was an adventurer. His thirst for knowledge and new horizons led him to many different places and people around the country. His stories and quick wit could have people laughing for hours.

If wealth was measured by experience, Gordon would have been a very rich man. He managed to pack 100 years of living into the short 61 years he had on this planet. He is proof that life is a journey and not a destination. He will be missed deeply.

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Bruce V. Davis.

He is survived by two brothers Emile Mayo of New York and John Mayo of Scarborough; and two sisters Carla Davis and Stephanie Mayo both of New York.
