Family and friends will honor and remember John’s life by gathering at Dennett, Craig, and Pate Funeral Home and Cremation, 13 Portland Road, Buxton (Bar Mills) on Wednesday May 16, 2018 from 5-7 PM. Private family burial will be held with US Army Military Honors at Calvary Cemetery.
Obituary:
John E Giusti (November 4, 1948-May 9, 2018) of Portland fought a heroic battle with cancer for 13 years, but it was his heart that ended his journey on this earth. Cancer was not John’s only battle. John was a proud member of the United States Army and received a Silver Star Honorable Service Medal from the State of Maine and a Purple Heart recipient in the Vietnam War. Though wounded in action and undergoing multiple surgeries John did not stop working. John went on to work twenty years for the United States Postal Service where he made countless lifelong friends. John enjoyed playing poker, fishing, cribbage, spending time with his friends and family, and playing Scrabble with his wife of forty-three years Judie.
John is survived by his wife of 43 years Judie Giusti of Portland, his only son Dan Giusti of Norwood, MA, three brothers Santino Jr of Westbrook, Nick of Milbridge and his wife Joanne, Paul of Westbrook and two sisters Irene Esposito of Buxton and her husband Richard and Mary-Jo Giusti of Westbrook and her fiancé Lincoln Hunt along with many nieces and nephews. John is pre-deceased by his mother and father Santino and Mary Giusti as well as his brother Joseph Giusti.
