OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Major Kenneth W. Henderson, Sr. 66, of Old Orchard Beach, ME was peacefully promoted to Glory on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, while at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
For 39 years he has been the beloved husband of Jeanmarie (Lanagan) Henderson and a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Ken was born in Waltham, MA on May 4, 1951, one of six children of the late Joseph K. and Mary Alice (Arsenault) Henderson.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Kenneth Henderson Jr., and two daughters, Bonnie Leighton, and Kathleen “Katie” and husband Jon Frisk; 13 cherished grandchildren, Kristopher, Makayla, Casey, Jeff, Alex, Anthony, Myla, Elaina, Alexis, Kenneth III, Brian, William and Jackson, and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Elijah Henderson, all of whom he was extremely proud; three brothers, John “Jack” and wife Connie Henderson, Richard and wife Lee Henderson, and Wayne and wife Marcy Henderson; and a sister, Patricia and husband Fred Marzetta. A brother, Brian Henderson, predeceased him.
He will be missed by countless children  and young adults who considered him to be like a dad to them.
Ken was a longtime minister at The Salvation Army corps in Berlin, NH, and Bath, ME, and previously worked as a computer technician at IBM and Digital Equipment Corp, of MA and VT. Some of his interests and hobbies include his love for music (teaching guitar), reading, history and theology. Ken’s love for music and devotion to not only his, but others’ children, will change lives for the better in generations to come.
