Bryan, Maureen and Family,
So very sorry to learn of Kevin's passing. No doubt that we were best friends through College.
In grade school and then Cheverus, we had some great times. I recall picking Kevin up at 48 Hartley St. many times. One occasion, we went to the Cheverus Saturday night dance. My Mom was chaperoning that night. We (I) decided to borrow?... my Mom's car. She would not be using it for a few hours...but then she needed something and went to the parking lot and her Rambler was gone. She was about to report it to the police and then paused....."maybe John& Kevin are up to something...again.
Yes we were up to something ? I had decided to drive around Baxter Blvd from Payson Park toward Portland in the OPPOSITE Lane... Kevin was riding "Shotgun & Lookout.....we got 90 % of the way and Kevin announced "we're not gonna make it"...a car was coming right at us...I slowed and drove up over the divider between 2 trees and we made it. We got back to the CHS parking lot and met "Mom" and a police officer waiting for us with arms folded and eyes starring......
I did make the trip, (journey) to Fort Kent to see him there. That is a long trip. I still tell the story describing how long a trip it was back to Portland. " The trip is so long that when I got to Bangor, I figured I was almost home... I considered, I considered Bangor/Portland to be the Twin Cities".
The Summer of 2016, I made an effort to reach out to Kevin, I sent a few letters/notes to his OOB address but got no response. I went to the address in OOB and knocked on the door on 2 occasions, even left a note on door...no response.
He will always be considered my Best Friend. He was a good man....My prayers are with you. May he Rest in Peace.
